Military Medal 'On the night of the 29th/30th September 1917 while the 49th Battery were taking up a new position East of WESTHOEK a heavy fire was opened on the position by an enemy 5.9" Battery, killing 2 men and wounding 13 others. In spite of heavy and continuous shelling, Private L. McPHERSON A.A.M.C. went to the assistance of the wounded and attended to them on the spot. He was occupied for a considerable time in this, and performed his duties in a fearless manner and at great personal risk. Private McPherson's coolness and courage under most difficult circumstances was a splendid example to the remaining members of the Battery and undoubtedly inspired them with confidence. His gallant conduct is worthy of special recognition.'
