'For consistent good service and devotion to duty from 25th February to 16th September, 1918, especially while in the STRAZEELE Sector from 13th April to 30th July, 1918, in connection with the salvage of Government and civilian property from Forward Areas subjected to enemy shell fire. At all times by his cheerful manner and disregard of danger he has set an excellent example to the men of his Company.'
