During the advance from VILLERS BRETONNEUX on 8th August 1918, his sub-section was part of a forward section sent out in close support of the infantry. On this occasion he again exhibited a cool manner and handled his sub-section in such a way as to be of the greatest assistance to the Officer in charge. he has been continuously with his Battery during the recent operations, and during this time, although his Battery has on occasions been subjected to considerable hostile shelling, he has been untiring and cheerful, and by his coolness under fire has set an excellent example to his detachment and is deserving of special recognition.'
