Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in charge of a large rationing party. It was mainly due to his skill and fine leadership that the party twice passed through a heavy enemy barrage and shell fire with only slight casualties, and was able to deliver the rations and water.'
