Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry near Lihons, 10 August, 1918. This N.C.O. was in charge of a Stokes mortar. He moved his gun forward in the face of intense machine gun fire and succeeded in getting into action within 200 yards of the enemy. He knocked out the hostile gun and drove the enemy out of the post.'
