Military Cross

'On 8th October, 1918, at Montbrehain, he commanded a mobile section sent forward in support of the exploiting infantry. He took his section forward with great ability and determination, himself proceeding to the advanced infantry posts, and personally ascertaining the situation and observing with an entire disregard for hostile fire. he eventually succeeded in emplacing his guns and establishing an observation post, from where he was subsequently pushed out by rifle and machine gun fire. He then succeeded in establishing other observation posts near our front line, from where he brought most successful fire to bear on the enemy, causing numerous casualties and forcing them to evacuate an occupied trench.'
