Admitted to No 72 Field Ambulance, 17 November 1916 (orchitis); transferred to 1st Corps Rest Station, 22 November 1916; rejoined 3rd Australian Tunnelling Company, 3 December 1916.

Accidently injured, 20 July 1918, but remained with unit; admitted to No 34 Field Ambulance, 27 July 1918 (incomplete fracture, right humerus); transferred to No 22 Casualty Clearing Station, 28 July 1918; to No 24 Ambulance Train, 2 August 1918; to No 18 General Hospital, Camiers, 3 August 1918; to No 6 Convalescent Depot, Etaples, 16 August 1918; to No 1 Australian Convalescent Depot, Le Havre, 25 August 1918.

Admitted to No 2 General Hospital, Le Havre, 14 October 1918 (influenza).

Died, No 2 General Hospital, 17 October 1918 (influenza, complicated by bronchial pneumonia).
