Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in maintaining the artillery communications under heavy shell fire. Although severely shaken by explosives, he stuck to his duty and restored broken lines at critical moments. He has shown great ability and courage on several previous occasions.'
