Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in maintaining the artillery communications under heavy shell fire. Although severely shaken by explosives, he stuck to his duty and restored broken lines at critical moments. He has shown great ability and courage on several previous occasions.'

'During the period from the end of March to the present time, this N.C.O. has shown remarkable ability in handling and organising the work of his Airline Section. It was due to his energy and ability during the operations of August, that communications to Divisions, were maintained and developed. At all times he is a fine example to those under him, by his initiative foresight.'
