Military Cross

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When a heavy barrage fell on the sector held by this officer's company, anticipating an attack. He visited each part of the line, seeing that all were prepared. On the attack taking place, calling on his men to follow him, he led them straight for the enemy, whom he successfully repulsed.'
