War service: Egypt, Western Front Allotted to and proceeded to join 57th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 23 February 1916. Transferred to 59th Bn, 15 March 1916. Found guilty, Moascar, 10 June 1916, of conduct to the prejudice of good order & military discipline in that he at Moascar Camp at about 1900 8/6/16 by attending a school where gambling was being conducted, facilitated a breach of BRO No 94: awarded 5 days' Field Punishment No 2. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 18 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916. Posted missing, 19 July 1916. Court of Enquiry, held in the field, 29 August 1917, pronounced fate as 'Killed in Action, 19 July 1916'.
