Military Medal 'At ARMENTIERES on the night 3rd/4th January, 1917, during a hostile raid on our trenches, and then telephonic communication had been destroyed, he carried an urgent despatch from the front line to his Battalion Headquarters through a heavy enemy barrage. He carried out his duties with gallantry, and was in an exhausted condition when he delivered his despatch. After having been given medical attention he returned to duty with his Company in the front line.'
