Embarked Adelaide, 16 December 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 16 February 1917; marched into 8th Training Bn, Hurdcott, 18 February 1917.

Found guilty, 19 April 1917, of being absent without leave from midnight, 18 April, until 10.30 pm, 23 April 1917: awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No 2 and forfeited a total of 19 days' pay.

Proceeded overseas to France, 9 July 1917; taken on strength, 32nd Bn, 1 August 1917.

Attached (not transferred) to 5th Division Salvage Company, 23 September 1917; returned to unit from attachment, 9 February 1918.

Found guilty, 30 April 1918, of being in Corbie without a pass: awarded 5 days' Field Punishment No 2.

Wounded in action, 27 July 1918; remained at duty.

To United Kingdom on leave, 19 August 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 12 September 1918.

Admitted to 8th Australian Field Ambulance, 5 November 1918 (sprained right ankle); transferred to 3rd Australian General Hospital, Abbeville, 18 November 1918; to 1st Australian Convalescent Depot, 19 November 1918; rejoined unit, 4 January 1919.

On leave from France, 22 March 1919; rejoined unit from leave, 7 April 1919.
