Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 5th April 1918 during the attack on our line opposite DERNANCOURT. This N.C.O. - though wounded in the thigh early in the day - remained at his gun carrying out his duties and encouraging his men. He was wounded a second and third time but remained at his gun. His service and example were invaluable to the Battery which was heavily shelled during the day.'
