'Near ESCAUFORT on the 10th October 1918, whilst the 46th Battery Wagon Lines were being heavily shelled by 5'9 Howitzers, T/Bdr. MORGAN's courageous and energetic behaviour were a most valuable assistance in the face of a most difficult situation. The heavy concentration of fire was causing casualties to both men and horses. T/Bdr. MORGAN and one other took the foremost part in releasing all horses and getting them safely away and still under heavy fire attended to the wounded, carried them away to a place of safety again returning to destroy several horses which had been severely wounded but were still alive. By his courage and energy he made himself invaluable to his Officers and materially assisted in minimising casualties.'
