Military Medal 'When TAYLOR's DUMP was heavily shelled on 21st October, 1917, four ammunition lorries were in process of being unloaded. The road was blown up preventing the withdrawal of the lorries, six men becoming casualties. This N.C.O. rendered excellent service in the removal of the wounded, then immediately organised a party for the repair of the road. The dump containing over 40,000 rounds of ammunition, was still being heavily shelled, but by this man's coolness and perseverance the task was completed and the ammunition lorries withdrawn in safety. His initiative and devotion to duty are worthy of recognition.'
