Military Medal

'On 11th September, 1918, near Vendelles, N.W. of St. Quentin, this N.C.O. showed conspicuous bravery and determined fighting ability during an attack by his platoon, without artillery support. During each successive bound in an advance of 1500 yards, Sgt. Mulroney was first to start forward, setting a magnificent example throughout. In the final stage he dashed forward over 200 yards of open ground, and was first man into the enemy trenches, where he succeeded in killing two of the enemy before anyone else of the platoon got in. During a strong hostile counter-attack which followed, he showed great courage under intense shell-fire and, handling his men with the utmost coolness, beat off the attack with loss to the enemy.'
