Meritorious Service Medal

'For conspicuous ability and devotion to duty. This N.C.O. has carried out the preparation of Trench Foot material for the whole of the Division during the winter months. The quantity thus handles by this N.C.O. is estimated at over ten (10) tons in all, and the work has been done at short notice and late at night. It has entailed exposure to the irritant vapours of the ingredients with consequent detrimental physical effects. Staff Sergeant Murray's work in this connection has been carried out with the greatest skill and cheerful disregard of personal comfort, and its value to the welfare of the troops would be too difficult to over estimate.'
