Proceeded from Alexandria to join the Mediterreanean Expeditionary Force (Gallipoli), 4 September 1915.

Wounded in action, 30 September 1915 (shell wound); admitted to 3rd Light Horse Field Ambulance; transferred to 16th Casualty Clearing Station; discharged to duty, 2 October 1915. Taken on board HS 'Assaye', 3 October 1915, for transfer to England. Admitted to 2nd London General Hospital (St Mark's, Chelsea), 20 October 1915. Returned to Egypt and disembarked Alexandria from 'Kingstonian', 5 March 1916; returned to unit, Moascar, 9 March 1916.

Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 15 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 21 March 1916. Admitted to 7th Field Ambulance, Morbecque, 30 March 1916 (pyrexia); discharged to duty, 1 April 1916.

Admitted to 7th Field Ambulance, Rue Marle, 7 April 1916 (influenza); transferred to 7th Division Resting Station, 8 April 1916; discharged to unit, 18 April 1916; returned to unit, 19 April 1916.

Wounded in action, 16 May 1916 (gun shot wound, neck and head), and admitted to 8th Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to Australian Hospital, Wimereux, 18 May 1916. Classified 'dangerously ill', 25 May 1916; died of wounds, 26 May 1916. Buried in Wimereux Cemetery by Rev. T.S. Goudge, 27 May 1916.

Mother granted pension of 2 pounds per fortnight as from 27 July 1916.
