Military Medal 'This N.C.O. was in charge of bearers at the right Aid Post WESTHOEK RIDGE NOrth East of HOOGE on 20th September, 1917. During a heavy bombardment this N.C.O. was in charge of several bearer squads carrying wounded. The bearers hesitated momentarily to proceed under the fire but Sergeant BICE took hold of the front stretcher and showing a fine example of gallantry brought on the cases thereby establishing a precedent which prevented any dealy in clearing the wounded to safety. This N.C.O. has on many occasions shown the utmost gallantry.'
