Military Medal 'For his conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty during our counter attack near DERNANCOURT on April 5th, 1918. This man at great personal risk rushed forward with L/Corporal TOOLONG under very heavy artillery and Machine Gun barrage and captured a British Lewis Gun which was in the hands of the enemy and causing considerable damage to his Company and hindering the advance. The capture of this gun enabled the Company to gain its objective with fewer casualties. This man continued to do excellent work until relieved.'
