Military Medal

'For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty. This N.C.O. was in charge of an Engineer Pack Troop engaged in carrying stores from ZONNEBEKE to the BROODSEINDE RIDGE on 14th October, 1917, and although the area traversed was heavily shelled both by H.E. and gas shells, he delivered his loads of stores at the appointed place. Both before and after 14th October, 1917, he went out daily with the Pack Troop and moved stores to the forward dumps, the work being carried out under most trying and difficult conditions. It was largely due to his courage and energy that the stores were fed forward for urgent work in the front line.'
