Transferred to, and taken on strength of 63rd Bn, Windmill Hill, 28 April 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 23 August 1917; marched into 3rd Australian Divisional Base Depot, Rouelles, 24 August 1917.

Proceeded to unit, 31 August 1917; taken on strength of 36th Bn, 1 September 1917.

On leave to United Kingdom, 2 March 1918; rejoined unit, 23 March 1918.

Transferred to, and taken on strength of 34th Bn, 30 April 1918.

Deatched to Sniping School, 5 June 1918; rejoined unit, 11 June 1918.

Found guilty, 10 October 1918, of while on active service, being absent without leave from 0600, 29 September 1918, until surrendering himself to Military Police, 2215 hours, 3 October 1918: awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No 2, and total forfeiture of 19 days' pay.
