Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. The enemy shelling was intense, and his section suffered many casualties. He collected the remainder of his men, and kept up supplies and rations to the men in the front line, continually going backwards and forwards through heavy barrages organizing the work. It was largely owing to his devotion to duty that the company in the line were kept supplied with ammunition and rations.'
