Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in action. He led forward a party of sappers with the attacking party, and commenced work on the saps immediately. Although he received two wounds in the first few minutes, and his wrist was broken, he carried on for two hours, till he became too weak to go on.'
