Proceeded overseas to France, 31 December 1916; marched into 5th Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 1 January 1917. Proceeded to unit, 2 January 1917; taken on strength of 59th Bn, 4 January 1917. Detached to 2nd Army Rest Camp, 27 August 1917; rejoined unit, 7 September 1917. Admitted to No 15 Australian Field Ambulance, 22 November 1917 (debility); discharged, 13 December 1917, and rejoined 59th Bn the same day. On leave to United Kingdom, 25 January 1918; rejoined unit, 11 February 1918.
