Military Medal

'Is recommended for his excellent work and courageous example set to those under him during the operation near ZONNEBEKE on 26th September, 1917. His work and example to the members of his gun crew were throughout of the highest order and when the Gun Commander and No. 1 of the gun on his right were placed "hors de Combat", he maintained the fire of both guns in a most satisfactory manner. In the front line his eagerness to seize any opportunity was rewarded by his disposing and killing and wounding several of a large enemy working party. He is recommended for the Military Medal.'
