Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near Chuignolles, on 23rd August 1918, in charge of a company attacking Frosissy Beacon. During the attack, when the battalion on the right was checked, he extended his company so as to outflank and capture the enemy's post, and allowed the advance to continue. Later, he attacked a post which was causing trouble, and, approaching under cover of Lewis gun fire, rushed forward with a small party, capturing thrity five prisoners and a machine gun, killing and wounding many.'
