Temporarily attached to 15th Infantry Brigade Headquarters, Ferry Post, 10 May 1916; rejoined 59th Bn, 16 June 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 18 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916. Handwritten note on Form B103: 'Presumed Buried In No Man's Land approx 5J90 43 to 5K02.5.1 Sheet Hazebrouck 5A' Statement, Red Cross File No 2020801, 2885 Pte T.E. McLEAN, 59th Bn, 29 July 1916: 'I saw this man dead during the charge at Fleurbaix on July 19th. I saw him when I was on my way back after I was wounded. Several who were with me remarked how peaceful he looked. I think he must have been killed instantaneously. He was lying on No Man's land (sic) about 200 yards out of our trenches.
