Military Medal 'At HERMIES, FRANCE on 9th April 1917 Lane Corporal NURSE showed great bravery and devotion to duty. This stretcher bearer went out four times under very heavy rifle and machine gun fire, dressed and carried back four wounded men to safety. He sets a splendid example to the stretcher bearers under him.'
