Military Medal 'During the advance on the BLUE LINE on the 10th August 1918, when our flank was temporarily held up by very heavy rifle and machine gun fire, out in front of the main body. Captain GRIFFIN, of this Battalion, was severely wounded in the head and was lying in a shell-hole some distance ahead of the main body...Though the intervening space was swept with rifle and machine gun fire Lance Corporal O'LOUGHLIN, without hesitation, volunteered for the extremely hazardous taks of bringing in this officer. With much difficulty and great personal risk he succeeded in getting the wounded officer back to safety. By his prompt action he undoubtedly saved this officer's life.'
