Military Medal 'During our attack on the BLUE LINE on 10th - 12th August 1918 this soldier rendered invaluable assistance with his Lewis Gun, handling it with the greatest daring and skill when the remainder of the crew had become casualties. On three occasions on the 11th August Private O'ROURKE led attacks against enemy machine gun posts firing his gun from the hip, forcing the enemy to keep down while our men rushed the post with the bayonet. He inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy with his gun and was a vital factor in assisting our advance on thre 11th August 1918.'
