Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion toduty at BROODSEINDE RIDGE east of YPRES on 4th October, 1917. Under heavy shell fire and exposed to sniping and machine gun fire he conveyed messages backwards and forwards between Battalion Headquarters and the firing line and always readily responded when called upon throughout the whole operation from 3rd to 6th October inclusive.'
