'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on the morning of 23rd August, 1918, during the operations in the vicinity of CHUIGNES (map references, Sheet 62D, R.12.b. central). He delivered all messages entrusted to him in the forwad area in spite of heavy machine gun and shell fire, and showed the utmost courage throughout. Private OSBORNE has on many previous occasions done excellent work whilst acting as a runner.'
