Medals |
Military Medal 'On the morning of the 6th October, 1917 on the WESTHOEK RIDGE east of YPRES the dressing station used by Chaplain DEXTER came under shell fire. One shell went through the roof bursting at tin of peterol and setting fire to the dug-out. The Medical Officer was wounded, but being near the door was easily rescued but several attempts made to reach his orderly were unsuccessful. Pte. ALEXANDER very gallantly rushed through the flames, and after searching the back of the dug-out succeeded in rescuing him, being himself badly scorched by the flames. By his action he showed great presence of mind and disregard for personal danger.'
