Attended Officer Training School, RMC Duntroon, 26 October-20 December 1916. Acting Sergeant, 8 August 1916-5 March 1917; reverted to Private, 3 October 1917.

War service: United Kingdom

Embarked from Melbourne, 4 August 1917; disembarked Glasgow, 2 October 1917. Marched into 3rd Training Bn, 3 October 1917. Admitted to 3rd Brigade Hospital, Sutton Veny, 20 October 1917 (mumps).

Died at sister's residence (Mrs Wardroper, 10 Atholl Crescent, Edinburgh) while on sick furlough from hospital. AIF Headquarters, London, not notified until after the funeral.
