Military Medal

'On 12th October 1917, East of YPRES, he displayed conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This N.C.O. was in charge of a Carrying party and so organised his men that he was able to send a continuous supply of ammunition to the front line in spite of heavy enemy shell and machine gun fire. He personally organised the men under his control showing great ability in this task. His personal disregard of danger had a great influence on the men working for him.'
