Military Medal 'Near BULLECOURT, on the night of 6th/7th May 1917, this man regulated the evacuation from two R.A.P's forward of the railway embankment. Both these posts were continually subjected to barrages of shrapnel and the Non Commissioned Officer showed the greatest coolness and courage under extremely dangerous conditions and enabled the evacuation of wounded to proceed satisfactorily. At one time he was buried by falling earth, but continued to regulate the work of the various stretcher squads, without, pause, until his relief arrived. he was also placed in charge on 10th May, 1917, and again worked his squads under trying conditions.'
