Military Medal 'This N.C.O. set an inspiring example at POZIERES on 7th August, 1916. When one telephonist was killed and another wounded he went to the instrument, and remained until cease fire was given, and the gun crew withdrew to cover. He has frequently remained under heavy fire at the telephone in order to convey instructions to the guns, and on three separate occasions went into the open under heavy fire to repair broken wires.'
