Military Medal 'This N.C.O. was in charge of an advanced post near THILLOY on 2nd March, 1917. Under cover of dense fog strong enemy patrol surprised post in rear. Although wounded at the outset this N.C.O. organised a very stubborn resistance which finally drove enemy off, leaving several dead on the ground. As soon as his wounds were dressed he issued orders to his men to prepare for another attack and by his gallant and cool behaviour kept his men well in hand throughtout.'
