Military Medal 'At about 6 p.m. on the 23rd April 1917, a convoy of two G.S. Wagons were proceeding towards BEAUMETZ with Trench mortars and Stores, under the charge of 184b, Temp. Bdr. Boddington. When reaching the Corner of the MORCHIES - CAMBRAI Road they came under very heavy enemy shell fire. The N.C.O. in charge was wounded, and fell off his horse. he then gave the order for the wagons to halt. Driver H.J. PEARSON, realising the situation, took command, and ordered the wagons forward. The enemy continued to shell the spot, and but for the initiative and coolness displayed by this driver there is little doubt that considerable losses of men and animals, and damage to material, would have ensued. he delivered his stores to their destination, and withdrew his wagons to safety.'
