Military Medal 'On the 3rd September, 1916, this N.C.O. succeeded after much difficulty, determination ad risk in getting two Lewis guns to a forward position near MOUQUET FARM. He and his men were exceptionally tired, having been digging hard all the previous night and he himself was suffering from a sprained ankle. It was his grit and devotion to duty which got his party through the barrage then established between our support and front lines. In addition, after he got forward he made arrangements and successfully evacuated the casualties his party had suffered on the way forward.'
