'In the attack on the SUGAR FACTORY east of NAUROY on 1st October 1918. For his courage, skill and devotion to duty. His Platoon Commander was killed and under heavy artillery and Machine Gun fire he re-organised the Platoon and exercised great skill in handling it during severe fighting. He also kept close touch with the Unit on his Right Flank. He was a splendid example to his men and most valuable to his O.C.'
