Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 24 May 1915.

Disembarked Alexandria from Mudros, 9 January 1916 (general Gallipoli evacuation).

Found guilty, Tel el Kebir, 5 February 1916, of being absent without leave, 1900 to 2300, 1 February 1916: awarded 96 hours' Field Punishment No 2.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 15 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 21 March 1916.

Wounded in action, 29 July 1916 (gun shot wound, buttock), and admitted to 1st Australian Field Ambulance; transferred to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station, 30 July 1916; to 3rd Canadian General Hospital, Boulogne, 31 July 1916 (wound right thigh); to England, 2 August 1916, and admitted to Napsbury War Hospital.

Marched in to No 1 command Depot, Perham Downs, from hospital, 7 October 1916; granted furlough, 10 October 1916; returned from furlough, 25 October 1916.

Proceeded overseas to France, 2 February 1917; rejoined 26th Bn, in the field, 8 February 1917.

Reported missing, believed to be prisoner of war, 26 March 1917.

Now, 14 April 1917, confirmed prisoner of war, captured Lagnicourt, gun shot wound, right hip, interned Wahn, Germany.

Died of double pneumonia, 31 October 1918.
