Wounded in action, 18 October 1917 (gun shot wound, right arm), and admitted to 5th Australian Field Ambulance; transferred same day to 2nd Casualty Clearing Station; to No 2 Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, 19 October 1917; to England, 22 October 1917, and admitted to 2nd Military Hospital, Old Park, Canterbury, 22 October 1917. Transferred to Fort Pitt Military Hospital, Chatham, 22 November 1917; to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 27 November 1917; marched in to No 3 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 3 December 1917; to Overseas Training Brigade, Longbridge Deverill, 7 March 1918.

Proceeded overseas to France, 21 June 1918; rejoined Bn, in the field, 26 June 1918.

Admitted to 11th Australian Field Ambulance, 24 November 1918 (otitis media); transferred samec day to 3rd Australian General Hospital, Abbeville; to 1st Australian Convalescent Depot, 8 December 1918; rejoined Bn, 2 February 1919.

Marched out to England for return to Australia, 7 April 1919.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Nestor', 20 May 1919; disembarked Sydney, 4 July 1919; discharged, 20 August 1919.
