Meritorious Service Medal 'For consistently good work and devotion to duty as a platoon Sergeant from 25th February to 16th September, 1918. In the operations forward of HAZEBROUCK in April, May and June and later in advance of PROYART, Sergeant BLACKBURN was in charge of working parties engaged in the excavation and wiring of strong points. His ability and leadership have at all times been an example to all.'
