Military Medal 'During the operations 28/30th October 1917, this N.C.O. was acting as a forward R.Q.M.S. at the ration dump in ZONNEBEKE which was being continually shelled by 8", 5.9" and gas shells, but notwithstanding the shelling and the risk Sgt. PHILLIPS arranged his ration, water and salvaged parties in an excellent and capable manner, not the slightest hitch occurring. His efforts to keep the men supplied were untiring and he proved himself a valuable assistant to Headquarters.'
