Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in an attack. Though wounded, he took charge of his platoon, led them forward to the objective, and consolidated the position. He made frequent reconnaissances under heavy fire, and established posts well forward in front of his line. He showed splendid courage and initiative.'
