Suffered gun shot wound, foot (accidentally self-inflicted), Gallipoli, 22 May 1915. treated on HS 'Franconian', 30 May 1915; returned to duty, Heliopolis, 26 June 1915; returned to Gallipoli, 9 July 1915. Mentioned in Despatches, Army Corps Order 183, for 'Valuable service rendered on dates between 6.5.15 and 28.6.15'. With 2nd Light Horse detachment, Mudros, 14 November 1915. Disembarked at Alexandria from Gallipoli, 26-27 December 1915.

Proceeded to the front, Egypt, with the 2nd Light Horse, 16 January 1916. Admitted to 2nd Light Horse Field Ambulance (mumps), 5 February 1916; to hospital, 5 February 1916; returned to duty, 1 March 1916.
