Military Medal 'At POLYGON WOOD on 26th September, 1917, telephone communication broke down early in the day, and runners had to be used exclusively. Man runners became casualties, so that those remaining had to work very hard. During the whole of 26th and 27th September, Private PRICE carried numerous messages through heavy enemy barrages and machine gun fire, and on two occasions through a gas shell barrage. Although fairly badly gassed, he would not leave the line and continued to carry out his duty until the Battalion was relieved on the night of 30th September/1st October, 1917.'
