Military Medal 'This N.C.O. on night of 23rd/24th June, 1918 South West of METEREN displayed gallantry and initiative. On reaching final objective he pushed forward with two men to act as screen. When moving forward he came in contact with six of the enemy in a shell hole. He immediately engaged them, killing two and dispersing the others. He kept the front guarded conscientiously and kept the Platoon informed, enabling the consolidation to be rushed on unhampered.'
